Hi Guys,
Happy Lovely Saturday!
Did you watch the MET Gala held this past Monday hosted by the Fashion Queen & Icon:
Anna Wintour; Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine.
It was extravagant as always, but this year was a special one because of the theme which was
'CAMP'
The word 'Camp' is an adjective, meaning 'Ostentatious' which can be referred to as Flamboyant, Classy, Extravagant, Conspicuous, Glittery or Flashy.
Which makes sense to the extravagant style these celebs wore last Monday at the Gala.
For those of you who aren't familiar with this event; MET Gala,
it is the opening night of the Costume Institute's spring exhibition held every first Monday in May of every year at Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
It's strictly by invitation, you need to have a great sense and taste in fashion as a celebrity to get an invitation from Anna Wintour, and also, you get to pay a sum of $30,000 for a seat at the Gala.
Although, the couture outfits being worn at the Gala are customed designed and borrowed to the celebrities.
I know, you guys are shocked about the price to attend this event, right?!... but what most people don't know is, the money raised from the ticket sales goes as a fundraising/charity towards aiding the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
This year, the top designers that had their designs dominate the Red Carpet were:
1. Versacé
2. Dundas
3. Gucci
4. Moschino
5. Marc Jacobs.
Out of these 20 favorites, my uttermost 5 favorites are:
1. Ciara:
Her theme was Black Girl Magic, with a taste of flamboyant Afro-Queen.
2. Anna Wintour:
Her theme was just pure POISE!... Where simple meets Classy rich - rich, you know!
3. Celine Dion:
Her style spoke garish all-through!... And for her to pull that off at her age (+50years), I applaud her for that!!
4. Jennifer Lopez:
Her style spoke Swanky and ombastic.
5. Kylie Jenner:
Her style gave the extravagant & sleek vibes.
The men this year gave more of a chill-back mood, the majority of them wore just proper Suit attires, compared to last year's theme.
It was only Billy Porter with the Egyptian Pharoah Classy style and Harry Styles that gave a real fashion statement in wearing a 'gender neutral' outfit, along with heels.
I can't wait to see next year's theme, I hope it'll be as dramatic as last year's theme:
''Heavenly Bodies'': Fashion and Catholic Imagination.
where Rihanna graced us with her magnificent couture that was ranked the best-dressed.
Until then, we just got to grace ourselves eyes with these iconic styles whilst waiting on the next inspirational styles yet to come.
I just love the couture styles inverted for this event, and I've been watching it since I was 12 years. You can imagine!
Thus, every year I still get mesmerized and amazed by each style worn there on the Red Carpet.
Until then...
I wish you all a lovely weekend!
XOXO!
